Weight-loss Group

The Taylor Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 1343 will have in-person meetings of their weight-loss support group Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. at Grace Place, 301 Grace Lane. Members are recommitting to their health journeys and invite others who have struggled with their weight to join them at the meeting. Attendees should use the office entrance to Grace Place.

Taylor Rotary Club Meals on Wheels

At noon, The Taylor Rotary Club delivers Meals on Wheels the third Thursday of the month out of the Taylor Senior Center, Lone Star Circle of Care, 1301 W. Fourth St. They serve Taylor and Thrall. Home Depot Kids Workshop Home Depot Kids Workshops are held on the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon. They are free events.

St. Mary’s Ribbon Cutting

Wednesday, April 26 — At 9:30 a.m., St. Mary’s Catholic High School will have a ribbon cutting for a new high school complex on campus, 502 Elliott St., Taylor. Light refreshments will be served, and an optional tour of campus will follow.

Cigar Rolling Class

Wednesday, April 26 — From 5 to 9 p.m., Red Cap Cigar Lounge will host a Tampeño cigar rolling class and event with Jorge Rodriguez, CEO of Tampeno Cigars, at 215 N. Main St., Taylor. $25 in advance, $35 day of the event. Friday, April 28 to Saturday, April 29 — From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., St. Paul Church will host a community garage sale inside Fellowship Hall, 401 W. Seventh St.

Red Poppy Festival

Friday, April 28-Sunday, April 30 — Starting at 6 p.m. Friday and ending at 5 p.m. Sunday, Georgetown’s signature annual event is back. With live music, vendor booths and plenty of red poppy flowers, this event is designed to entertain.

Animal Shelter Adoptions Saturday, April 29 — From 9 a.m. to noon, Citizens National Bank will host Taylor Lion’s Club and Taylor City Animal shelter for an adoption event, 316 N. Taylor Blackland Prairie Days Saturday, May 6 — From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Historic Downtown Taylor celebrate Taylor’s rich cultural heritage hosted by the Czech Melody Masters. The event will feature horticultural speakers and demonstrations, arts and crafts vendors, food booths, children’s activities and live entertainment. Refreshments will be available for purchase during market hours. Outdoor vendor spots are $10 while inside vendor spots are $20.
