New Hippos officially sign with school district

HUTTO – Signing day is significant for athletes moving on to the next level, but it had a different meaning for some new Hippos.

On Friday, March 31, Hutto ISD held a signing day, offering intent to hire letters to seven spring student teachers and one fall student teacher. The district will offer one more intent to hire letter to a spring student teacher that was away Friday supporting students at an FCS competition.

That means the district has signed nine future teachers who are ready for their own classrooms for the next school year.

This number is in addition to seven residents who signed intent to hire letters in February.

The district has been fortunate to recruit and retain a number of student teachers and residents this school year. More importantly, they have had the opportunity to experience the culture of Hippo Nation and learn about the district and campuses. They have also gained a great foundation in the importance of establishing relationships and instructional expectations.

Because of their experiences here and the leadership of campus principals and cooperating teachers, they quickly decided Hutto was the place for them to start their teaching career, and they have committed to Hippo Nation.
