Come out, have some fun and support a good cause Saturday, April 22, as the Friends of the Williamson County Child Welfare Board host a Casino Night fundraiser to benefit Williamson County children in CPS care. The event will be held at the Williamson County Expo Center, 5350 Bill Pickett Trail in Taylor.

Everyone who purchases a ticket, $60 per person, will be given 20,000 in chips to play the games of chance, food and drink, and an opportunity to win a $1000 gift card or a $500 gift card. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the casino will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. When the games close, players will trade their winnings for tickets to be entered into drawings for prizes including a Yeti cooler and tumblers, a 60” TV, a pizza oven or $200 in gift cards.

There will also be a silent auction from 6 to 8:45 p.m. Members of the Friends have collected a wide variety of items donated by businesses throughout the county. There will also be a gift card tree containing gift cards valued at several hundred dollars from various merchants that will be given away in a separate drawing.

The Williamson County Child Welfare Board is a county-appointed board that oversees the spending of county funds designated for foster children. Those funds are limited and can only be used for very specific needs.

The Friends of the WCCWB, a 501(c)3 was formed to provide more for the children than just the basics. The money raised is used to provide for needs of the children that often are beyond the means of kinship care families or foster families. The group frequently receives requests to pay for drivers ed training, sports equipment, graduation regalia and other items. They also provide a small monthly stipend to students who age out of care but choose to continue their education in college or trade school.

The Friends of the WCCWB provide funds to maintain Rainbow Rooms in Georgetown, Round Rock and Taylor. These rooms, located within the CPS offices, are stocked with diapers, formula, clothing and other items that caseworkers often need on short notice when children are taken into care.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.helpwilcokids. com, at the door or in advance from any board member.
