You get what you focus on

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” – Henry David Thoreau If you choose to see what’s wrong, if you choose to see what’s broken, if you choose to focus on the things that are bad, they will become exaggerated. They will begin to monopolize your thoughts, you’ll see them anywhere.

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”

– Henry David Thoreau

If you choose to see what’s wrong, if you choose to see what’s broken, if you choose to focus on the things that are bad, they will become exaggerated. They will begin to monopolize your thoughts, you’ll see them anywhere.

But if you choose to see beautiful, if you choose to see potential, if you choose to see the things that are right, then all of the sudden you’re going to be surrounded by that.

Where you put your attention, where you put your focus, is going to determine what you see, and that is the mos fascinating and the most important thing you have to understand about the way that your mind works. Your mind is literally designed to pay attention to the things that you notice. Whatever you look for it’s going to be everywhere. If you look for the negative, it will be there. But if you look for the positive, it will overwhelm you.

Once you realize that, you’ll understand this is a game of attention. And YOU entirely control what you focus on.

So choose very wisely, because your life will literally become the summation of the things that you look at.

- Tom Bilyeu, excerpt from his “The Power of Focus“ speech.

Always remember there is goodness everywhere and kindness matters.
