The Taylor Area Baseball and Softball (TABS) 6U Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Chicago White Sox last Saturday, April 1, with a 25-11 victory. The Pirates relied on their potent offense to claim their fourth win of the season with almost every player recording a hit in Saturday’s victory.

Zeek Hargis led the team with six RBIs hitting, a single in the second, home runs in the third and the fifth. Hudson Jahn, Rayland Moore, Harper Scruggs, Garryn Chandler and Harper Fowles all had doubles.

The Pirates were hitting well, but the White Sox stayed with them every step of the way. With both teams exploding offensively in the first two innings, the White Sox were looking to derail the Pirates’ early season momentum by handing them their first loss.

The Pirates would head into the third inning ready to deliver a counterpunch to the White Sox, who were beginning to take control of the game. The Pirates stepped into the batter’s box ready for the challenge, and they were able to make a play to get the fans excited and put the Pirates back in the game.

Pitcher Cameron Ness came through in the clutch with a home run in the third, allowing the Pirates to keep the lead for the rest of the game. Ness and the Pirates’ defense held off any hopes of a late rally from the White Sox to close out the game.

The Pirates closed out the game to hang on to their undefeated start to the season. After posting 25 runs, the Pirates’ offense will remain confident as they shift focus to their next matchup Saturday, April 8 against the TABS 6U Arizona Diamondbacks.
