Welcome back to the Huddle where today we will be discussing some local sports, specifically the Taylor Ducks and their amazing season so far.

The Ducks started out firing on all cylinders and were able to get a nice little winning streak going early in the season.

The Ducks’ great start comes down to, really, two things that they are doing well, and the team has bought into this mentality. The two components making this team great are simply competing and effort from every single player.

The Ducks are a feisty team with plenty of talent to go around, but they know they can’t win on talent alone. They know they are going to have to dig deep and find ways to beat teams.

They have been in the mix to win every game they have played, and that comes down to wanting to compete and be the better team. You have to watch them in person to understand what I am talking about here.

These guys do not quit. They could be down five runs going into the last inning – these guys do not quit! You look around the crowd and they’re a little nervous because their team might lose the game.

Meanwhile, the Ducks are hyping themselves up because they know the game isn’t over, and they are going to get after the opposing team. As a spectator, you’re kind of in awe of it all because it’s very rare to support a team that never ever gives up on a game and it is very exciting.

That brings me to the second point of all this. The effort portion of it all.

In addition to competing and winning games, they are not perfect, and teams have been able to hand them some losses. But the Ducks use that as fuel to add to their fire.

They lose a game, and they are chomping at the bit to break down some film and fix whatever they did wrong. They put in work to consistently go out and fix their mistakes.

Good teams only notice their mistakes, great teams will take time to fix them. To go to practice and see these guys work on their game plan while also correcting the little mistakes they made, is truly a sight to see.

But again, that takes effort.

This team is special, and talking with head coach Justin Adams, he believes the same thing. Also watching this team, they believe they are special.

If you have a group that puts effort towards getting better, then going out and competing to be the best team out there that also believes they are special. That, fellow baseball fans, is a scary team that is on a mission to show the world they have arrived, and they are not backing down.

Getting into the thick of the district season the Ducks will be challenged by some of their division rivals. The Ducks appear to be ready for the challenge with a deep playoff run as their ultimate goal before the season ends.

Good luck to the Ducks as the season continues, they are a very fun team to watch and I for one cannot wait to see how the season ends up for this tough and gritty team.
