THRALL – Three Thrall Tiger pitchers combined for a no-hitter Saturday in a 22-1 blasting of the Chilton Pirates. Carson Ball and Bobby Clark combined to drive in seven runs to help the Tigers (13-6 overall, 5-3 District 27-2A) to the win.

The Tigers wasted little time taking control of the contest, scoring 14 runs in the bottom of the first inning. A combination of Chilton errors and timely hitting gave Thrall all the momentum they would need. Consecutive run-scoring triples by Maverick McAllister and Bobby Clark, followed by a Carter Bradford’s tworun homerun highlighted the 14-run inning.

A Jalen Rodriguez triple and Anthony Sandoval’s run-scoring single pushed three more runs across in the second inning for the Tigers. And, in the third, Thrall took advantage of a pair of Pirate errors and three hits to add four more runs to their growing total.

Thrall’s final run came in the bottom of the fourth inning. McAllister reached on another Chilton miscue and Clark walked setting up Blake Kemp’s run-scoring single to left, making the score 22-0.

Chilton finally got on the board in the top of the fifth inning. A pair of hit batters and a fielder’s choice drove in the Pirates’ lone run of the day.

Kemp, Sandoval, Bradford, McAllister, and Rodriguez each had two hits for the Tigers. Bradford and Rodriguez added two runs batted in each, to go along with Ball and Clark’s contributions. On the mound, Sandoval got the win, and along with Ballad n Hayden Heselmeyer, held the Pirates hitless and allowed just one walk over a combined five innings of work.

The Tigers hosted the Milano Eagles Tuesday night and will travel down Highway 79 for a match-up with longtime rival Thorndale on Thursday. Currently, the Tigers are in fourth place, one game ahead of Granger. Holland leads the district with a perfect 8-0 record, followed by Thorndale at 7-1 and Rosebud-Lott at 6-2.
