LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor, I would like to address a comic recently published in Taylor Press (Sunday, March 12, 2023). This comic, while in the opinion section, is in such poor taste that I felt that I should write to you.

Dear Editor,

I would like to address a comic recently published in Taylor Press (Sunday, March 12, 2023). This comic, while in the opinion section, is in such poor taste that I felt that I should write to you. Please understand that I have never written to a newspaper, and this comic has prompted me to write you.

Let me be clear. If this comic was aimed at conservatives, I would feel the same way. I am going to ask that you replace the word liberal with the word conservative, publish it, and see how many angry emails you receive. It’s an awful thing to say, and calling it an opinion or funny doesn’t make it any less abhorrent.

Our community struggles with divisiveness. One only has to look at the situation surrounding the Christmas parade and it’s fallout to see that. And yet, Taylor Press consistently continues to publish articles, opinions and humor that are bent on dividing us more.

My hope by writing this letter is to remind your publication, that there is a significant liberal population in Taylor and that we also deserve respect, even if you disagree with our politics. Given the conspicuous lack of non Christian and liberal opinion pieces in your paper, and the consistent refusal to publish letters to the editor that challenge the conservative Christian propaganda that is published every week, I have little faith in this email not falling on deaf ears. Sincerely, Regina Baker Taylor, TX
