Los Patos continued their dominant season with a firstround playoff win at home last week.

The Taylor Ducks boys’ soccer team defeated the La Vega Pirates 7-0 in the first round of playoffs Friday, March 24, on their home field.

The Ducks would continue to show why they are one of the best teams in the state with a huge first round playoff win.

The Ducks started the game showcasing their speed and ball movement skills. They moved the ball effectively and had several scoring chances within the first couple of minutes.

The Ducks would finally find the back of the net and Taylor quickly became sharks as there was blood in the water.

The Ducks would begin to swarm the Pirates’ net minder, as they poured on shot attempts. The Ducks moved the ball and got several more scoring chances.

The number of shots, coupled with the Ducks speed and chemistry, made it difficult for La Vega to get started on offense. The Ducks defense quickly sniffed out any scoring chance La Vega had to get the ball back up the field on offense.

The Ducks offense would find the back of the La Vega net three more times before halftime to hold a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break.

Coming out of the half, it was more of the same for Los Patos as they continued the onslaught. Both offensively and defensively, they kept full control of the game.

La Vega would have some chances in the second half trying to get themselves involved on the score sheet. The Ducks defense kept them at bay, and when they had an opportunity to score, they took it.

Head coach Zach Gibson said he tells his team that it is fun to score, and they are talented enough too, but he wants them to take care of their side of the field first.

Continuing their pressure, the Ducks scored three more times to make it a 7-0 game. With time winding down, the Ducks celebrated their first win in playoffs this season.

Los Patos were back on the field Tuesday, March 24 on the road against El Campo.
