HUTTO — Billed as the largest showcase in Texas of Asianinspired food vendors, arts and crafts and live entertainment, Asian World Night Market makes its debut March 31 – April 1 at Brushy Creek Amphitheater in Adam Orgain Park, 1001 County Road 137.

The two-day event features food and culture from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Taiwan, the Philippines, China, Japan, Korea and India. More than 50 Asianinspired food trucks and vendors will fill the Amphitheater as performers from around the area showcase cultural arts in an atmosphere of music and celebration.

“Our goal is to bring together a community of talented groups and individuals in celebration of Asian heritage. Patrons can wander through rows of colorful stalls immersing themselves in taste, sight and sound,” the event promoters said. “Each evening will feature a variety of cuisines ranging from traditional dishes like dumplings and stir fry to more exotic fare, local art and crafts like our anime vendors, as well as live music and dance performances.”

An anticipated draw for the festival will be the Anime Village, with 30-plus booths selling animé related merchandise. Fair-goers are encouraged to wear their Akatsuki jackets and Pokémon gear, or come in costume as their favorite anime character.

Planned events include live bands, a martial arts demonstration, Sumo demonstrations, a traditional lion dance, performances by cultural dance groups, children’s activities and more.

While many of the performing acts will be from diverse cultures, there should be something for everyone according to musician Tre Pham. The Vietnamese front man and guitarist for Blue Tongue says the band plays “funk with a bit of psychedelic and rock.”

“We’re very high energy, heavy on groove,” he said.

The band will be one of the live acts playing both nights of the event.

Patrons are invited to bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the live music.

The event is from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 31 – April 1.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Children under age 12 are free. Parking is free.
