Gary Lee LaShelle 80, born April 27, 1942, in Savanna, Illinois, raised in Fulton, Illinois. Gary passed away unexpectedly Thursday March 16, 2023, comfortably in his home.

Gary Lee LaShelle 80, born April 27, 1942, in Savanna, Illinois, raised in Fulton, Illinois. Gary passed away unexpectedly Thursday March 16, 2023, comfortably in his home.

Gary, over the years, lived in Chesaw, Index, Loomis and Washington. He spent his last remaining year in Thrall.

Gary served in the US Army and E4 USAF 1961-69, earning the good conduct medal, Vietnam service medal with 34 bronze service stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal with device.

(1960) Republic of Vietnam gallantry cross with palm unit citation badge/meritorious unit commendation. He also served in Vietnam from March 21,1968 to Feb. 1, 1969.

Gary enjoyed spending a lot of time volunteering to help local veterans, volunteered as a firefighter more than 20 years, hanging out on his property feeding his turkey and rabbits, fishing and going hunting.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Mary LaShelle; his parents, Floyd and Frances LaShelle; and brother, Ron LaShelle.

Gary is survived by his sister, Sandy Shadle; daughter, Lisa an husband Michael Fisher; daughter, Shawna and husband Rick Tabor; son, Kris and wife Michelle Mauke; daughter, Becky and husband Jeff Barker; and son, John and wife Katy LaShelle. Gary had 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, family and friends.

Gary will be remembered by his fiery personality that stamped everyone’s heart that he met.
