On a chilly Saturday morning, the Taylor Area Baseball and Softball (TABS) 6U Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Minnesota Twins with a 20-12 victory.

The Pirates relied on their heavy hitting to help them secure a win, as they seemingly hit everything but singles.

Hudson Jahn, Colin Lynch, Zeek Hargis and Kaleb Knapek all had doubles followed by a Cameron Ness triple. A homerun by Garryn Chandler in the bottom of the second, followed by a Hargis homerun in the bottom of the third would put the Pirates up 15-7.

The Pirates offense continued to build on their lead all the way to the end of the game. However, they knew offense was only half the battle.

With the large lead, the Pirates knew their defense would have to step up and continue to make plays to come away with the win. They looked to their pitcher to take them the rest of the way, and they delivered.

The Pirates allowed the Twins to score five more runs on their way to a victory, and they did it thanks to their dominant defense.

Ness, pitcher, would make a two-out stop and throw to Hargis at first base for the final out of the game giving the Pirates their second win of the season.

The Pirates (2-0) will play their next game Saturday, March 25, at 9 a.m. against the TABS 6U New York Yankees.
