BARTLETT – The Granger Lions took on the Bartlett Bulldogs in Bartlett Tuesday, March 14, and extended their district record to 2-0.

The Lions defeated the Bulldogs 21-3 to get their second district win of the season, and as the score reflects, it was complete dominance from the Lions.

The Lions started the game on offense, and as the visiting team, they made their presence felt from the opening pitch.

The Lions scored three runs in the first inning and keep that momentum the rest of the game.

The second and third innings saw the Lions add two runs in each inning, all while keeping the Bulldogs offense in check and keeping a zero on the score board. Heading into the fourth inning, the Lions held a 7-0 lead and were looking to add to it as they were back on offense.

The fourth inning was where the Lions offense finally exploded, scoring six runs and extending their lead to 13-0 before the Bulldogs secured the third out. But, once again the Lions defense was equal to the task and again held the Bulldogs scoreless as the teams prepared for the fifth inning.

Travis Burton and Nate Tucker were a big part of the Lions offense Tuesday.

Burton got ahold of two pitches and sent them both over the fence on four at-bat attempts.

Tucker got three hits on five at-bats, one of them being a double, but his ability to bring runs home double helped his team on the scoreboard. Tucker ended the game with four RBIs, some of which came in the even bigger offensive explosion in the fifth inning.

The fifth inning saw the Lions put the game to bed, as they would score a staggering eight runs to bring their lead to 21-0 before the Bulldogs went back on offense.

The Bulldogs did not go down without a fight.

They scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning trying to keep the game going.

Unfortunately, the late push was not enough, and the Lions secured three outs and after that the umpires called the game, awarding the Lions the victory.

With another district win under their belt, the Lions shift focus to their next matchup against the Thrall Tigers Friday, Mar. 17, on their home field.
