Early voting for the Williamson County primaries is underway and started slow on Valentine’s Day.
On the first day of early voting, there was a turnout of 0.67% voters in the county. More Republicans than Democrats made it to the polls Monday, Feb. 14. A total of 1,555 Republican votes were cast, while 1,139 were cast for Democrats.
At Taylor City Hall, 107 voters made their way to the polls. Of those, 91, or 85%, were Republican. The other 16, or 15%, were Democratic votes.
At the Williamson County Hutto annex, 88 people came out to cast their votes. Sixtyone percent, 70 votes, were Republican. The other 39%, 18 votes, were Democratic.
Early voting continues until Friday, Feb. 25. All polling locations will be closed on Monday, Feb. 21, for President’s Day.
Local early voting locations include Taylor City Hall, 400 Porter Street, and the WilCo Annex, 321 Ed Schmidt Blvd in Suite 100 in Hutto.
