HOLLAND – Thrall’s Miley Pokorny threw a no-hitter and Mikayla Velesquez drove in three runs on a pair of hits, to help power the Tigerettes (8-8-2 overall, 2-1 District 27-2A) to an 11-0, five-inning win over the Holland Lady Hornets (3-7, 0-2) Friday night.

Neither team could seem to get their bats going through the first three innings. Thrall did have a chance to put runs on the board in the first, but the Lady Hornets were able to work their way out of a jam. However, that changed in the top of the fourth inning, when Thrall’s bats got hot.

With one out in the top half of the fourth, Gracie Fitzgerald got things started for the Tigerettes with a single to left. The bases went full after walks to Preslie Juranek and Bri Jarosek, but it looked like Holland would get out of another jam when the second out was recorded. But Velesquez had other ideas, driving a single into centerfield, scoring two runs.

A double by Riley Luton upped Thrall’s advantage to 3-0, and when Holland’s right fielder misplayed Ashlyn Jarosek’s fly ball, two more runs came in to give Thrall a 5-0 lead after four.

The Tigerette fifth saw the visitors plate six more runs. Fitzgerald and Juranek both walked to lead off the inning, and Bri Jarosek lined a single to right to load the bases. With one out, Holland walked Juranek and Luton to force in a pair of runs to push the score to 7-0.

In a near mirrorimage play, Ashlyn Jarosek hit another fly to centerfield and, just as in the fourth inning, the centerfielder misplayed the ball for an error that allowed two more Thrall runs to score. The bases went full again when Raelynn Johnson was hit by a pitch, and a fielder’s choice by Pokorny, scored the final two runs of the game.

Pokorny ran her record to 4-3, allowing no hits over five innings, while striking out six. Velesquez and Bri Jarosek led the Tigerettes at the plate with each getting a pair of hits. Velesquez also drove in three runs. Luton and Pokorny also each had two runs batted in.

The Tigerettes were back in action Saturday when they traveled to Bremond to take on the Lady Tigers. Thrall traveled to Thorndale Tuesday, and wrap up their spring break schedule Thursday, hosting Chilton.
