The Taylor Lady Ducks track team had a great showing at the Duck Pond this weekend.

At the annual Cotton Boll Relays, held Friday March 9, the Lady Ducks took home three first-place finishes from the relays, as well as a fourthplace finish as a team and a ton of confidence.

“So much improvement was made this week with our team,” said Lady Ducks head track coach Shelli Cobb. “The girls really stepped up to compete hard in front of the home crowd.”

Lily Vega would be the Lady Ducks runner of choice for the 3200-meter race, and she did not disappoint.

Vega finished the race in 14 minutes and seven seconds to earn sixthplace in the race.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Kaleigh Woods, Azalie Balusek, Cameira Douglas and Zakaya Frederick finished in 52 seconds to earn fifth place.

With the Lady Ducks building some momentum in the first two races, Emma Whitsel was set to compete in the 100-meter hurdles.

Whitsel finished the race in 15 seconds to capture first place for her team, giving them a good boost in the team standings.

Douglas stepped back onto the track for the 100-meter dash, where she finished in sixth place, but was only mere milliseconds away from first place.

For the 4x200-relay, Whitsel would replace Douglas and helped the team capture first place, finishing the race in a minute and 50 seconds.

With the 400 M dash and the 300 M hurdles next, the Lady Ducks added two more sixth-place finishes to their total. Zari Thompson, in the 400-meter dash, and Tessa Kopecky in the 300-meter hurdles, each captured sixth place for the Lady Ducks.

In the 1600-meter relay, Thompson replaced Whitsel, and the team finished third.

On the field side, Ty’Shauna Shaw made her first appearance of the day, as she jumped 15 feet and four inches in the long jump. Shaw finished in fourth place for the Lady Ducks.

In the high jump, Hannah Wamble jumped over four feet and four inches off the ground to earn fifth place for her team.

Camryn Nunamaker and Maci Kennick competed in the shot-put event for the Lady Ducks, taking home fourth and fifth place respectively. Nunamaker also threw the discus and claimed third place.
