MADISONVILLE – The Taylor Ducks (11-0) defeated the Madisonville Mustangs (8-2) Wednesday after three pitchers combined to throw a shutout.
To finish the game,Taylor’s Cohen Tyree struck out Christian Bustamante leading to the final score of 3-0.
The pitching was strong on the mount for both sides, with Madisonville pitchers sitting down 10 while the Ducks pitchers struck out 10.
Chris Perez got the ball rolling for the Ducks, leading four innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out five, and allowing zero walks. Meanwhile, Tyree and Devin Valdez came straight out of the bullpen and helped close the game in relief. While Mustangs’ pitcher Cody Stapleton allowed zero hits and three runs over one inning, with one strike out, but ultimately took the loss for the team. Cayden Maxwell went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out five, and walking zero.
At the plate, Tyree Valdez went 3-3, leading the Ducks in hits, while Izayah Drake and Bustamante from the Mustangs took the lead with one hit for their team.
