It was a case of too much power against too little offense Tuesday night as the Thrall Tigers (1-1) rocked the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles (0-2), 32-3.
The Tigers scored early and often and thumped the Eagles’ pitching staff. Hayden Heselmeyer led the Tigers with five runs batted in after going three for three with three triples, two of which came in the Tigers’ 17-run first inning.
But Heselmeyer was far from being the only Tiger swinging the lumber Tuesday night. Bobby Clark and Tyler Bonkowski each recorded three hits and drove in four runs each, and Ty Bradford and Maverick McAllister added two his each in the win.
Thrall led 17-0 after the first inning, scoring 11 runs after the second out was recorded. They added nine more in the second inning, before surrendering three runs to the Eagles in the bottom half of the inning. Then finished off the night score six runs in the third. The Tigers totaled 17 hits on the night and took advantage of eight Bruceville-Eddy miscues to get the easy win. McAllister picked up the win with one inning of work. He needed just 13 pitches to set the Eagles down in order.
Thrall was playing in the Valley Mills tournament beginning Thursday. It will conclude Saturday, and the Tigers will open District 27-2A play on Tuesday when they travel to Milano to face the Eagles.
