Doris Marie Fuchs was welcomed into the arms of Jesus Feb. 5, 2022, at age 88. She lived in Spicewood for 30 years, and in San Antonio for nearly 30 years prior.
Doris was born Oct. 2, 1933, to Henry Carl Lenz Jr. and Ella Minnie Walther Lenz of Taylor.
Doris graduated valedictorian from Hutto School in 1951 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Texas Lutheran College (TLU) in 1956.
On Aug. 18, 1957, Doris married William Gene Fuchs of Thrall. They met at the Taylor movie theater as high school sophomores and got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 1957. They were married for 63 years.
Doris taught second-and-third graders for 31 years before retiring in 1990.
Doris and Gene were blessed with a son and two daughters. Doris was a Proverbs 31 wife, mother and friend.
Most important to Doris was her Christian faith. She selflessly loved, served and cared for others. She remained joyful and faithful to the Lord, no matter the challenge.
Doris enjoyed family time, cooking, traveling, flower arranging and Bible studies.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Gene; and brother, Marvin Lenz of Taylor.
She is survived by son, David Fuchs (wife Karla) of Round Rock; daughter, Cheryl Fuchs (and Larry Brown) of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Robin Muscarella (husband Joe, son Noah) of Orlando, FL; sister Gladys Townsend of Taylor; sister, Ruby Cottle (husband Jack) of Fredericksburg; as well as in-laws and extended family members.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Taylor, with viewing from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
