The Taylor Area Businesswoman organization is always looking for new members.
Although it has evolved over the years, TAB’s mission has always been the same, “ to promote the enrichment of women in their business and personal life.”
Original ly chartered under the name of Business and Professional Woman of Texas is 1948, TAB is nonsectarian, non-partisan and a non-prof it organization.
Over time, the organization dropped its af f i liation with BPW. A few years later, it re- established itself with new goals and the new name, Taylor Area Businesswoman. This allowed for better opportunities to serve businesswomen in the Taylor area, at a local level.
Every year, TAB selects the Outstanding Woman of the Year. The f irst recipient in 1950 was Alma Lee Holman. The most recent recipient, for 2022, was Stacy Stork.
In 1998, two women tied for the honor, they were Astrid Zizinia, and Paulette McConchie. Through the years, a few names became missing. Anyone who may have been bestowed the honor in 1977, 1978, 1980, 1981 and 1982, contact Regina Carlson, first vice president, or Charlotte Albert, president.
Among other things, TAB holds a few fund raisers a year to benefit community service and provide scholarships for young woman in the areas of Taylor, Thrall, Hutto and Granger.
TAB invites a speaker for most of the meetings. Previous speakers have included Michele Glaze of Samsung; Jan Harris, Taylor’s Main Street Director; Dorothy Fischer, OBO Senior Citizens of Taylor; Devin Padavil, Taylor Independent School District superintendent; and more speakers planned for this year.
Anyone interested in joing TAB, contact Carlson at regina.carlson@tayloredc. org.
Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month, in Mr. Gattis meeting room.
