AUSTIN – The Taylor Ducks picked up a big win in overtime against the Austin Achieve Polar Bears on the road Tuesday night.

On Jan. 17, the Ducks defeated the Polar Bears 83-80, which improved the Ducks record to 2-3 in district and has them only one spot out of the playoffs.

Coming off of a loss to Smithville, the Ducks started the game with a sense of urgency to get another win. Taking a 22-15 lead into the second quarter, the Polar Bears showed so push back but the Ducks stood tall and continued to put points on the board and extend their lead.

With a 55-37 lead in the third quarter, the Polar Bear began their comeback. Limiting the Ducks to only seven points in the third quarter, the Polar Bears cut the Ducks lead and got within striking distance before heading into the fourth quarter.

Austin Achieve continued their pursuit of tying and taking the lead. The Ducks were caught on their heels by the Polar Bears fourth quarter surge, and found themselves with a 69-68 lead halfway through the final quarter.

The Ducks were able to rebuild their lead to 73-70, but the Polar Bears were not going to roll over. Polar Bears point guard Marcus Zelee found himself wide open behind the three-point line.
