Sam Dowdy was named Rotary Citizen of the Year, and Stacy Stork was named Taylor Area Businesswomen’s Woman of the Year.

Dowdy was chosen for this honor for his work in the community.

“He serves on a lot of boards and committees including the chamber, the (Taylor Economic Development Corporation) and the BHCC,” said Ryan Stiba of the Taylor Rotary Club. “He is a great leader in Taylor.”

Stork was named Outstanding Woman of the Year for her “fullness if her heart.”

“It’s because of the outstanding things she’s done,” said Regina Carlson of the TAB.

Carlson highlighted Stork’s effort to help a family that was impacted by the tornado last year.

“She was there (for them) when their house blew away,” Carlson said. “She gave them everything they needed. She gave them clothes, toothbrushes, shoes.”

The annual banquet recognizes community members and businesses who were active and went above and beyond in their service. In addition, the chamber announced plans for the upcoming year.

Other award recipients included John Matthews for the Customer Service Award of the Year and Mr. Gatti’s with the Business of the Year honor.
