Drive-through chili in support of a good cause is back in Taylor. The Taylor Lions Club is offering their Annual Chili Supper from 5 to 7 p.m.
Thursday, January 26 at Taylor SPJST Hall, 502 FM 619 in Taylor.
As with past years due to the pandemic, the supper will be a drive-through event, featuring bowls of homemade chili — with beans or without.
“This event is to support the Lions Club, so we can support our projects,” said club member Erwin Stuaffer. “The thing about the Lions Club that nobody knows is that 100 percent of our money goes to support these projects. There are no administrative costs. Everything goes out into the community.”
Since 1940, the Lions Foundation, which is a 501c3 organization, has used its profits for anything from scholarships for Taylor Independent School District, food and financial support to Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry, local eye exams and eyeglasses for kids who cannot afford them, supporting the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville for Children with Disabilities, and many other endeavors.
Tickets to the chili supper are available for a $12 donation. Please make checks payable to the Taylor Lions Foundation. For more information, contact lionsclubtaylor@gmail. com.
