Ice has melted, but trash pickup in Taylor remains affected by Winter Storm Landon.
Waste Connections, which operates trash pickup in Taylor, advised Taylor’s municipal government Feb. 5 that the company had revised their residential trash and recycling schedule for the coming weeks in light of the recent disruptions in service due to the winter storm.
After a two-day pause last week, trash services resumed Saturday, Feb. 5, for customers that usually have trash picked up on Thursday.
“Waste Connections has revised their plans for recovery of services, particularly for those impacted by missed Friday services,” said Taylor’s municipal government in a press release.
The remaining adjusted schedule for Taylor residential trash and recycling services is as follows:
• Tuesday, Feb. 8, shifts to Wednesday, Feb. 9;
• Wednesday, Feb. 9, shifts to Thursday, Feb. 10;
• Thursday, Feb. 10, shifts to Friday, Feb. 11; and
• Friday, Feb. 11, shifts to Saturday, Feb. 12. Normal collection schedules will resume Monday, Feb. 14.
“(Waste Connectiions) asked us to let you know that they appreciate everyone’s patience as they navigate their way back to safe and normal operating conditions,” said the city of Taylor, “and that their commitment remains to the health and safety of all people – our customers, our employees and community members.”
Trash pickup stopped when Winter Storm Landon breezed through the area Feb. 3-4. At least 1/10 inch of ice accumulated on Taylor streets from freezing rain and sleet.
