A local woman suspected of homicide has been arrested, according to police officials.

On Tuesday, Jan. 11, U.S. marshals, along with detectives from the Taylor Police Department, picked up Esmerelda Renee Alderete, 19, in the 2200 block of Jason Drive.

Alderete is in custody at the Williamson County Jail, charged in a warrant

with murder in the shooting death of Enrique Lopez Estrada, 26, Dec. 12, with initial bond set at $500,000.

Taylor Police Chief Henry Fluck said he was grateful to the United States Marshal Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force for their help.

“We are very pleased with their assistance,” Fluck said. “They put a lot of resources into it. They had about 15 members of their task force in Taylor yesterday, and we are also very pleased that the arrest was made without incident, and no one got

hurt.” While Alderete was featured in the Williamson County Crimestoppers Crime of the Week, Fluck said Alderete was located based on information supplied by Taylor PD.

“We provided them with certain information, and we provided them with potential addresses that she may be at, and we have seen vehicles associated with her at, and that is what led to discovering her at the residence on Jason Drive,” Fluck said.

On Dec. 12, Taylor PD received a call at 7:11 p.m. about an unresponsive man in the yard of a home in the 1400 block of Jones Street. When officers arrived, paramedics were attempting to revive Estrada, officials said.

According to the autopsy, Estrada was shot in the back after being attacked and left unconscious on the ground.

Fluck said he was happy to see Alderete behind bars.

“We are of course grateful to the United States Marshal Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force for putting a lot of resources into this and assisting us in apprehending Ms. Alderete, and of course, I am pleased that this murder has been cleared by arrest,” he added.
