The Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor has finished improvements, and more are on the way.

On Thursday, Feb. 2, Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles will host ribbon cutting and groundbreaking ceremonies for improvements to the Expo Center. The events will begin at 2 p.m. at Expo Center’s south tarmac.

The ribbon cutting will mark the completion of the south tarmac. A new concrete sidewalk and walkway adjacent to the south tarmac has been installed. The walkway is meant to improve access between facilities and accessible through the American with Disabilities Act.

After the ribbon cutting, activities will shift to a groundbreaking for the Expo Center’s arena. The ceremony will in the breezeway at the south end of the arena.

The arena will be widened to 125 feet by 300 feet to better serve event holders and enhance overall safety with the additional space. The arena is currently 106 feet by 300 feet.

Box seating will also be added to the arena. Overall seating capacity should be increased by approximately 250 seats over the current 3,000 seats.

The roof over the breezeway will be replaced and be funded through an insurance claim. The roof collapsed during the February 2021 winter storm.

The design for both projects was done by Parkhill. Chasco Constructors was awarded Construction Manager for the projects for a maximum price of $2,009,747. With the exception of the roof replacement, all projects were funded with voterapproved 2019 park bonds.

The Expo Center is located at 5350 Bill Pickett Trail in Taylor.
