EAST CHINA SEA – Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Jacob Fisher, of Hutto, acts as the investigator during a toxic gas drill aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105) while conducting routine underway operations.

Dewey is assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15 and is underway supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific. CTF 71/ DESRON 15 is the Navy’s largest forward deployed DESRON and the U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force.

With more than 90 percent of all trade traveling by sea, and 95 percent of the world’s international phone and internet traffic carried through fiber optic cables lying on the ocean floor, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity and security of the United States is directly linked to a strong and ready Navy.
