Shooting suspect spotlit

Williamson County is assisting the Taylor Police Department in locating a local woman suspected of murder.

This week, Esmeralda Renee Alderete, 19, who has been named in an arrest warrant in connection with the Dec. 12 shooting death of Enrique Lopez Estrada, 26, is the featured Williamson County Crimestoppers Crime of the Week “Individuals can anonymously submit a tip, and if it leads to the arrest, they may be eligible for a cash award,” said Taylor Police Chief Henry Fluck.

Alderete is described as a Hispanic female 5’9” and 135 pounds and should be considered armed and dangerous, officers said.

“Esmerelda may no longer have a reddish tint to her hair, and most likely will be a more natural, darker color,” according to the county. “Taylor PD believes that Alderete is still in the local area and requests that anyone who may have information on this homicide, specifically information on the whereabouts of Alderete, to contact the Williamson County Crime Stoppers.”

On Dec. 12, Taylor PD received a call at 7:11 p.m. about an unresponsive man in the yard of a home in the 1400 block of Jones Street. When officers arrived, paramedics were attempting to revive Estrada, officials said.

According to the autopsy, Estrada was shot in the back after being attacked and left unconscious on the ground.
