An extensive fire that occurred at 901 Fisher St. just before Christmas may have been deliberately set, officials said.
“We are investigating it now as a possible arson,” said Police Chief Henry Fluck. “We have interviewed a couple of people so far. We have helped the Fire Department with that, and we will continue investigating it and will get to the bottom of it.”
Fire Marshal Robert Copeland confirmed the preliminary investigation deemed the fire “incendiary.”
“The definition of incendiary that we use is a fire that is deliberately set with the intent to cause a fire to occur in an area where fire shall not be,” Copeland said.
No additional details are available at this time, Copeland said.
At 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 19, firefighters responded to a call about the blaze, which reportedly began in the garage area and took first responders more than an hour to get under control. Though the fire displaced the residents of the building, no injuries were reported.
