The Thrall Tigerettes (17-9 overall, 2-1 District 27-2A) got double-digit scoring from four players and thumped the Bartlett Lassies (6-9, 0-4) 69-19 Tuesday night. Kassie Jackson and Kinley Hoffman led the Tigerettes with 14 points each, while CeCe Walker added 13 and Nevaeh Irvin chipped in 12.
In the early going, the Lassies’ defense was able to control the pace of the game. Bartlett even led 4-3 with 4:52 to play in the opening period. But Jackson’s jumper from the top of the key with 4:40 on the clock gave the Tigerettes the lead for good. Thrall went on to outscore the Lassies 13-2 over the final four minutes of the opening period and led 18-6 entering the second quarter. Jackson had eight of her 14 in the first quarter.
It was more of the same in the second. The Tigerettes’ defense was stifling, holding Bartlett without a field goal in the quarter. Thrall, meanwhile, got four points each from Avery Ochoa and Irvin and upped their lead to 31-9 by the half.
The Tigerettes got hot from the field in the third quarter, hitting nine of 23 shots from the field. Thrall rolled up their best quarter of the night, scoring 23 points in the third, while holding the Lassies to six and making the score 54-15 entering the final period of play.
Thrall continued to roll in the fourth. Hoffman scored six of her points in the final period, including a three-pointer, and Walker scored four to lead the Tigerettes to a 15-4 scoring edge.
Thrall dominated in every category. The Tigerettes outrebounded the Lassies 60-27 and outscored them in the paint 42-4. Thrall also added 33 points off turnovers in the route.
The Tigerettes were back in action Friday when they started a six-game road trip in Holland. The Lady Hornets (2-10, 0-3) are looking for their first district win, while the Tigerettes will have their last tune-up game before taking on defending district champion Hearne on Tuesday.
