Police have released a mugshot of a 19-year-old woman charged in a shooting death Dec. 12.

The Taylor Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating the whereabouts of Esmeralda Renee Alderete, 19, who has been named in an arrest warrant in connection with the Dec. 12 slaying of Enrique Lopez Estrada, 26, of Taylor.

According to the autopsy, Estrada was shot in the back after being attacked and left unconscious on the ground in the 1400 block of Jones Streets.

Alderete is described as a Hispanic female 5’9” and 135 pounds and should be considered armed and dangerous, officers said.

Officers received a call at 7:11 p.m. Dec. 12 about an unresponsive man in the yard of a home in the 1400 block of Jones Street. When officers arrived, paramedics were attempting to revive Estrada, officials said.

According to an autopsy, Estrada suffered a single, fatal wound from a .22-caliber bullet. Witnesses told police Estrada had fallen and passed out after an altercation.

“Through continued investigation by Taylor detectives, the investigation revealed evidence indicating that a physical altercation transpired moments prior to Estrada’s death in which Estrada was assaulted twice and then shot one time,” according to Taylor PD. “Detectives have conducted interviews and developed probable cause to identify the suspect who committed the shooting. All individuals involved in this incident appear to have been acquainted with each other.”

No motive for the tragedy has been released.
