It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, but Taylor and the surrounding area might also feel like a tundra ahead of the holiday.

Subfreezing temperatures down to 14 degrees are forecast in Taylor from Thursday night through Friday, Dec. 22-23. The city could experience more than 24 hours below 32 degrees in the city.

“An arctic airmass will arrive to the area Thursday afternoon bringing a prolonged period of freezing temperatures to the area,” said the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio Office. “Freeze warnings and wind chill advisories are likely for our area.”

The Taylor Texas Weather Network forecast calls for a high of 56 degrees Thursday before the cold front drops temperatures to 14 degrees at night. Winds will be from the north at 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Friday might not escape the 20s during the day and dip back to the late teens overnight.

“Lows Friday morning will be in the 10-20 degree range with wind chill values even lower,” said NWS Austin/San Antonio staff. “Highs Friday will remain at or below freezing for a large portion of the area.”

On Christmas weekend, Dec. 24-25, Williamson County might thaw during the day with Saturday’s high in the upper 30s and Christmas Day getting into the 40s. Nights will still likely freeze with temps in the 20s.

Meanwhile, no precipitation is expected throughout this week’s chilly weather. Sunny and partly cloudy skies are expected to be prevalent despite not much effect on temperatures.
