Taylor police are investigating the suspicious death of a 26-year-old man found in a yard Monday night.

Police Chief Henry Fluck said investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy, including a toxicology report that could take weeks, for more information in the death of Enrique Lopez Estrada.

“The medical examiner will make a determination of the cause of death and the manner of death,” Fluck said.

Though at first no foul play was suspected, police are now considering the death suspicious.

“There has been additional information that the deceased was involved in an altercation prior to his death,” Fluck said Tuesday. “With that in mind, we have to look at it as more of a suspicious death.”

The case began to unfold after officers received a call at 7:11 p.m. Monday for an unresponsive male in the yard of a house in the 1400 block of Jones Street.

The Taylor Fire Department and paramedics attempted to revive the man, who was pronounced dead at 8:01 p.m.

“We wish our condolences to the family of the young man who died,” Fluck said.
