All-State honors

In addition to All-District honors a couple players from around the area found themselves on the All-State volleyball team as some of the top players in the state of Texas. In addition to All-District honors a couple players from around the area found themselves on the All-State volleyball team as some of the top players in the state of Texas.

Aailyah Couch and Melania Grissom from Thrall were both selected to be on the All-State team because of their elite play throughout the 2022 season.

Couch and Grissom played a large amount of time on the floor for the Tigerettes and made big-time plays when called upon. Both Couch and Grissom are excellent were excellent defenders during the season aiding the Tigerettes deep playoff run but it was their offensive ability that stood out.

Couch was a setter in 2022 and played the role perfectly setting up and assisting on countless points this season while Grissom took advantage. Grissom played outside hitter for the Tigerettes and was a very valuable server for her team.

Both players earned their spot as some of the best in the state deserved to be recognized. The All-State honors did not stop there though as four Tigerettes, two Lady Lions and a Lady Hippo selected to the Academic All-State team.

Like the All-District team, the players selected are the players who excelled both on the court and in the classroom. Maintaining a 90% average in all their core classes is a difficult task but to do that and be a top player in the state it is a major accomplishment.

Starting with the Tigerettes Mia Moellenberg, Miranda Richter, Kerrigan Hooker and Gracie Skrhak were all selected for the team along with Lady Lions Alex Harwell and Natalie Martin and Lady Hippo Kamryn Haynes.

All of these young athletes competed on and off the court and really made themselves stand out especially in the gradebook. Though this honor is not based on skill alone it is an accomplishment that should be recognized.
