Road improvements in Coupland will kick off this week.
On Monday, Feb. 7, Williamson County will break ground for construction improvements to two Coupland streets. The roads are South Broad Street, from Elliot Street to Muery Street, and Muery Street, from CR 277 to South Broad Street.
The ceremony will be at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church of Coupland, 108 Wathen St. Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles will host the event.
This project consists of replacing the existing two-lane, 14-foot-wide asphalt pavement road with a two-lane, 20-foot wide road with an improved structural section. The pavement will have a treated subgrade, flex base and hot mix asphalt. The improvements are expected to repair and resurface the existing, damaged pavement to provide a smooth driving surface.
The design engineer is CONSOR. The contractor is Chasco Constructors.
Construction of the project is funded through the voter-approved 2019 Road Bond for $519,919. The improvements are scheduled to be completed by this summer.
