The Williamson County Livestock Association hosted FFA and 4H groups from area schools to show off the livestock they are raising at the Williamson County Expo Center.

Students had the opportunity to show off the swine (pigs), heifers and steers they have been raising for livestock experts to receive feedback as well and have an opportunity to win a championship.

Livestock is walked around the show barn while the judges make their decisions. The students selected as the winners of their certain breed of animal advance to the division round where a grand champion is crowned.

In the swine contest, Eli Pool from Leander FFA won the Duroc breed championship, Isabella Slauson from Taylor 4H won the Hamp breed championship, Danni Hilton from Florence FFA won the York breed championship, Landon Loerwald from Florence FFA won the White Other Purebred championship and Slauson claimed the Dark OPB breed championship.

Out of the champions only one could be picked as Grand Champion and Slauson’s Hamp breed swine claimed that title.

Next was the Heifer show, where TJ Kirchner from Thrall 4H was named the champion for American Heifers, Autree Kelm from Thrall FFA was named the champion for British Heifers and Ellie Hert from Liberty Hill FFA was named champion for European Heifers.

With the stage set, only one winner could be named and with 2/3 odds to win it all, Thrall ended up walking away with this one. Kirchner and his American heifer ended up being crowned Grand Champion and winning the first of two championships for Thrall ISD at the livestock show.

Heading into the steer show Thrall continued to dominate winning both the American and European championship. Kaden Dickens won the American steer championship while Patrick Zieschang won the European steer championship.

Aiden Wall joined Dickens and Zieschang and got Hutto 4H on the board by winning the British steer championship. Thrall picked up their second Grand Championship of the show shortly after with Zieschang taking first place.
