Study Club learns chamber workings

The Junior Woman’s Study Club met Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Lucky Duck restaurant.

Hostesses for the event were Marcia Hagler, Curie Humphreys, Paulette McConchie, Kristy Mucha and Melanie Thompson.

Devin Padavil, Taylor ISD superintendent, thanked everyone for voting in the November election and reported that the school district’s bond passed by 63%. Padavil then introduced the speaker, Rachael Westerman.

Westerman is the Taylor Chamber of Commerce Membership and Operations Director and worked to help get the bond passed.

Westerman explained that the Chamber of Commerce is there to support large and small businesses. The chamber has a membership of over 330 businesses. The chamber offers members business advocacy, networking opportunities, entrepreneurship promotion and programs designed to raise awareness of their businesses. The Taylor Chamber of Commerce has a luncheon the third Monday of each month.

21 luncheon.

After a brief business meeting conducted by president, Anne Wentrcek, four lucky members, Edy Holubec, Janell Rohlack, Marsha Beckerman and Janie Kollman took home plants complements of the hostesses.
