Carmen E. Gonzalez, age 98, went home to be with the Lord Nov. 12, 2022. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Carmen was born on March 18, 1924, in Hutto, to Magdaleno and Ella (Gonzalez) Euresti. She grew up with three brothers and six sisters. As a child, she attended school in a one room schoolhouse, and was a faithful daughter that helped to raise her siblings.

On Jan. 15, 1949, she married the love of her life Candelario Gonzalez. She and her beloved husband began their life traveling the United States for work. Carmen was a woman of great strength and beauty working alongside her husband. In the late 50s they settled in Taylor, to raise their children. Carmen worked for many years at the University of Texas and later retired close to home at Intercraft.

Carmen was a woman of strong Christian faith.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, watching Christian television, and listening to Spanish Christian songs.

Carmen loved attending church until her health no longer permitted her. She will also be remembered for her passion of crocheting for her children and grandchildren and cooking for her family.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Candelario Gonzalez; her son, Jaime Gonzalez; stepchildren, Walter Gonzalez and Esther Gayton; her sisters, Eva Vasquez and Amelia Castro; and her brother, Solomon Euresti.

She is survived by her children, John (Angie) Euresti, Yolanda (Augustine) Gomez, Irene Gonzalez, Deana (Robert) Tysdal, Homero (Anna Marie) Gonzalez, Yvonne (Domingo) Alderete, Jacquilyn (John) Craite; stepchildren, Beatrice Vega, Delia Flores, Alice Vega; siblings, Ruth Baldovino, Dora Ybarra, Olga Alvarado, Senaida Rioz, Franklink Euresti, and Harry Euresti; 50 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

Visitation was Monday, Nov. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a prayer service from 7 to 8 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Celebration of Life was held Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, followed by interment at Taylor City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Jaime Gonzalez, Rob Tysdal, Jonathan Gonzalez, Nathaniel Gomez, Tristan Shinnick and Gavin Gonzalez.

The family would like to thank the staff of Providence Funeral Home for their kindness, assistance, and comforting words. We would also like to thank the staff of Baylor Scott & White Hospital.

We appreciate all of the support and care our mom received by her physicians, nurses, and her personal doctor, Dr. Nathan Cohen.
