The Taylor City Council has been selected as the 2022 Texas City Management Association (TCMA) City Council of the Year. The TCMA City Council of the Year award recognizes and honors outstanding city councils that have made significant contributions to local government in Texas. The award will be presented during the TCMA Annual Conference in June.
“We are honored to be selected by TCMA as City Council of the Year,” said Mayor Brandt Rydell. “It is a privilege to work with my fellow Council members and I can’t stress enough all the hard work and dedication that each member of Council puts in to serve this community.”
As part of consideration for the award, a nomination was submitted by City of Taylor Management and Communications staff. The nomination included how council has demonstrated a commitment to ethics, places welfare of the citizenry above personal and political motives, functions as a policy-making body, how council supports prudent financial management, supports professional development; maintains harmonious and supportive relationships among councilmembers, and demonstrates strong efforts to promote community awareness and positive community relations.
“I know I speak for the entire city staff when I say that this award is well deserved. Rydell, Mayor Pro Tem (Gerald) Anderson, and councilmembers (Dwayne) Ariola, (Robert) Garcia and (Mitchell) Drummond are such a pleasure to work with and they have really done an outstanding job this past year. Our city is lucky to have a council that is committed to working hard day in and day out for our residents and our community,” said City Manager Brian LaBorde.
