Tigers All-District football team

The Thrall Tigers season was rocky because of injuries but they had plenty of players step up when they needed them most and it earned them some post-season awards.

Like all the other schools the Tigers had a good chunk of players be selected to the All-Academic team.

Head coach Aaron Vanecek said this is something he always wants to see from his teams. He wants to see his players playing hard on the field and in the classroom.

The All-Academic team is comprised of players on the football team that maintained a 90% or higher in all of their core classes. The Tigers had a staggering 19 players selected to the team.

Maintaining a 90% in core classes is a difficult task but to wake up really early and participate in football practice and then go to school all day and maintain an A or higher in their classes is even more dificult.

Fatigue is something these players battle daily and to fight it off to keep their grades up to standards is a honor that should be celebrated.

Carson Ball, Tyler Beer, Tyler Bonkowski, Brady Burlison, Joseph Butler, Seth Cage, Bobby Clark, Brodie Connell, Ethan Dahl, Parker Dollins, Denzel Drake, Brandon Ford, Landon Gregory, Luke Pearson, Cade Talley, Steven Walker, Jack Watson, Rylan West and Patrick Zeischang all achieved this honor for the Tigers for the 2022 season.

The Tigers also had five players listed as honorable mentions for the first and second All-District teams. Gregory along with Pearson and Walker made another appearance in the on the post season awards list and were joined by a couple of their teammates.

Dawson Meiske and Brandon Ford joined their teammates as honorable mentions for the first and second All-District teams.

Starting with the second All-District team the Tigers had six players selected for the team. Beer, Watson, Talley and Clark all were selected along with Breken Proctor and Anthony Sandoval.

The Tigers had two players, Beer and Proctor, named to the second All-District team on both offense and defense.

The first All-District teams saw two Tigers be selected. Bonkowski and Burlison were selected to the team for their efforts this past season.

Burlison made both the offensive and defensive firstteam All-District as a cornerback and an offensive utility player. While Bonkowski came away with the defensive lineman of the year award.

The Tigers record may not look glamorous but they have a ton of talent that got the recognition they deserved after the season.
