Do you ever wonder what Taylor’s Department of Public Works does, or what goes into bringing a major business that hires thousands to the area?
Citizens wishing to know the answers to questions like these are invited to apply for the class of 2023 LEAD Taylor.
The Leading Exploring Advancing Developing class will require a commitment of one Thursday afternoon per month beginning in January to learn more about government operations, community planning and awareness and civic culture.
“The LEAD Taylor program is a wonderful way for residents in Taylor to learn more about their city and how to get involved in various groups and organizations,” said Kendra Maness, the assistant public information officer for the city. “Our hope is that at the end of the seven sessions, residents will have a knowledge about how their city government operates and get to know other organizations that make Taylor a great place to live, work and play.”
Starting Thursday, January 19 from noon to 5 p.m., participants will meet on the third Thursday of every month for presentations from Taylor Independent School District, Taylor Economic Development Corporation, the Greater Taylor Area Chamber of Commerce, the Taylor Press, the Main Street Program, Library, emergency services, and much more.
“Not only do our residents get the opportunity to learn all about Taylor, but they also get to know some their neighbors as well,” Maness said. “We’re looking forward to the 2023 class and can’t wait to meet all of our participants in January!”
