The 1962 O. L. Price State Championship trophy now has a home in the Taylor High School trophy case. Led by Coach Edward “Bud” Elder, the O. L. Price Panthers defeated Dayton Colbert 42-6 and won the 1962 Prairie View Interscholastic League (PVIL) Class A state championship.
Taylor ISD honored the 1962 team with a special presentation during pregame ceremonies at this year’s homecoming game.
Former O. L. Price students later presented the championship trophy to Taylor High School principal Matthew Wamble for inclusion in the THS trophy case.
