Granger Farmers Market Fresh fruits, vegetables, jelly, canned and baked goods, eggs, artisan crafts and more will be at the Granger Main Street Farmers Market on the first and third Saturdays from April through October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of W. Davilla and Walton streets in Granger.

Third Thursday

Every third Thursday of the month, Taylor’s downtown businesses will be open past 5 until 8 p.m. and offer in-store specials, live music, door prizes and other activities. The event is designed to encourage residents to shop locally and become familiar with the shops in the downtown area.

Friends of Library The Friends of the Taylor Public Library group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the library’s board room at 801 Vance St. in Taylor. For more information, call Maria Newman at 512-966-9445.

American Legion Post 39 American Legion Graham D Luhn Post 39 holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at its post building at 1310 Sycamore St. within Murphy Park in Taylor. SPJST Lodge 29 Taylor Every Friday, SPJST Lodge 29 hosts live music and dancing and serves hamburgers at its hall at 5025 FM 619 in Taylor. Bands play from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Admission is free.

SPJST is a fraternal organization.

Residents can purchase life insurance, annuities or other items in order to become a member of the SPJST. The hall is open for business Wednesdays through Sundays from 3 to 10 p.m.

Book&GiftWrapParty Sunday, Dec. 4 — Libros Book Mobile and Wilco Art Lab are hosting a free party from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Loose Screw at Old Taylor High, 410 W Seventh St. in Taylor. Participants will be able to select a beautiful used book and wrap it as a gift for someone with wrapping paper, ribbon and even little embellishments donated from the art lab. Hutto Blood Drive Monday, Dec. 5 — From 9 a.m. to noon, come to the Hutto Chamber Office, at 122 East St. to donate blood.

2022 Granger Hometown Christmas Thursday, Dec.8 — From 6 to 9 p.m. enjoy the festivities at 104 S. Walton St., including the lighting of Granger’s 25-foot string-light Christmas tree, as well as festive food, crafts, artisans and vendors and a visit from Santa. This is one of the many and most beloved events produced by the Granger Main Street Board as it is designed to assist its Purple Santa program with new toy donations for the children of Granger.

Friday, Dec. 9 — Wilco Art Lab will host an ugly sweater party from 6 to 9 p.m. at the studio, located on the second floor of Old Taylor High, 410 W Seventh St. There will be an ornament making station for $5 for all ages, a free letter to Santa station, plus a contest with prizes for the ugliest, most creative, most festive, cutest, funniest and best couple sweaters.

In addition, the lab will be collecting teddy bears to be donated to Taylor Police Department to give to kids they encounter on duty. Participants who bring a teddy bear to donate will be eligible for a raffle drawing. For more information, visit wilcoartlab.com.

Christmas potluck Saturday, Dec. 10 — The Davilla community, located northeast of Williamson County, will host the event at 6 p.m. at the Davilla Community Center at 20803 FM 487 in Davilla For more information, call Inky Tatum at 254-721-2922.

Holiday Party & Ornament Exchange Friday, Dec. 16 — Art Off Center will have some holiday cheer, snacks and a little ornament exchange at 7:30 p.m. for its mud slingers and supporters.

All are free to drop by for an open studio. Attendees are also invited to bring some extra cash for a fundraiser for the Texas Critter Crusaders and pottery seconds for sale to benefit the Taylor Animal Shelter. For more information, call 512-666-9003.

Chamber Banquet Tuesday, Jan. 17 — The Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce will host their annual Chamber and Community Awards banquet, entitled “Building on a Strong Foundation” from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Williamson County Expo Center, located northeast of Williamson County, will host the event at 6 p.m. at the Williamson County Expo Center.
