St. Mary’s Catholic School held a Veteran’s Day ceremony Nov. 11, to honor local veterans.

The ceremony was originally planned to be outside, however, due to the weather, was moved inside the school gym.

The eighth-grade class prepared the assembly and took time to explain to the students important information about Veteran’s Day. They told the school why Veterans Day takes place on Nov.

11 each year. The student speakers informed the school that Veteran’s Day is celebrated in other countries.

Francis Scott Key’s “Star-Spangled Banner,” which he wrote in 1814, was played. All the St.

Mary’s students were given American flags to show their respect for our veterans. The ceremony closed with a prayer blessing all veterans.
