Even with the threat of a cold rain, the Taylor community took Friday to honor those who have served in the armed forces.

On Nov. 11, Veterans Day, a number of events were scheduled throughout the community to thank veterans for their service.

The day began with the annual veterans’ breakfast at the American Legion Graham D. Luhn Post 39 in Murphy Park.

Later that morning, Taylor Middle School hosted its annual Veterans Day program to recognize staff members and student family members who are veterans.

A part of the long-standing traditional program is honoring each branch of the military through song. Veterans stand to be recognized as the band plays the theme to their branch of the military.

The program also featured the solemn playing of Taps to remember those who were POWs (Prisoners of War).

A second program was hosted in the Taylor High School gym Friday afternoon to honor veterans.
