January was School Board Recognition Month, and Taylor ISD was honored to celebrate its trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district’s schools and students.
“Our school board members are selfless volunteers who spend long hours working to ensure all of our students have the opportunity to learn and grow,” said Superintendent Devin Padavil. “They represent the fabric of our community and care deeply about the success of our schools. They volunteer their time and effort for the sake of our children’s academic success.”
Serving as a link between the community and classroom, school board members are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for public schools. The Taylor school board is responsible for an annual budget of $41.5 million, 3,051 students, 520 employees and seven campuses.
Taylor ISD celebrated School Board Recognition Month at the January board meeting with presentations to trustees from the campuses. Board members are Marco Ortiz, president; Shorty Mitchell, vice president; Thomas Rohlack, secretary; Cheryl Carter, assistant secretary; and Jim Buzan, Anita Volek and Marilyn Tennill.
