James William Cottle

James William Cottle, 73, of Taylor, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, peacefully in his home surrounded by family.

James William Cottle, 73, of Taylor, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, peacefully in his home surrounded by family. Jim was born Oct. 10, 1949, in Danville, Illinois, to Asa and Emma (Pichon) Cottle.

He grew up with his three brothers, Michael (Linda), Daniel and Larry (Becky), and his three sisters, Nancy ( Vic), Lori (Mike) and Kimberly (Darrell). After earning a GED, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps Jan. 9, 1967, where he served on Active Duty until his honorable discharge Feb. 20, 1970, serving in California, New Jersey, Japan and North Carolina.

Post service, he worked in the trucking industry and was the best fence man in Danville at Cottle Fence Company. On Aug. 18, 2001, he married the love of his life Cindy Tillotson (Seitz), combining their families. The two of them set off to start a new life in Texas shortly after, where Jim worked for many road construction crews, with his most recent employment at HL Chapman as a fuel truck driver. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter, Tisha; and grandson, Asa.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 21 years, Cindy; children, Jamie, Troy (Nicole), Rebecca (Tony), Carrie (Brian), Jessica (Kevin), Sarah (Ricki), Justin (Amanda), Angela, Cory (Michelle), Brandon (Rachel), Makenna, Jayleigh, Marianna and Tevyn; grandchildren, Brandon, Alexis, Trevor, Trenton, Aiden, Trystan, Madison, Tyler, Ethan, Isla, Estrella, Christopher, Michael, Ryne, Jody, Amanda, Kaleigh, Jenna, Ethan, Kami, Chasiti, Kendred and Taylen; great-grandchildren Holden, Mason, Mary Kate, Holdyn, A’aidden, Emberly, Stella, Joey, Verse, Dailyn, Stetson, Hazel, and two more expected.

Jim’s graveside ceremony was held Saturday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. at Thorndale City Cemetery, 952 Detmold Rd in Thorndale, followed by a celebration of life at Holiday Inn Express, 180 Carlos G Parker Blvd NW in Taylor.
