I am with the Taylor Fire Department on the Rehab Team.

Taylor is fortunate enough to have the only Rehab Team within Williamson county and last Friday January 14, as many of you heard, the Balcone Recycling plant on Chandler caught fire around noon. The rehab team is on call 24/7 so we were called out to this fire shortly after noon and was released from the fire at approximately 1:30 a.m. the next morning.

Our job is to fill the fireman’s air tanks provide them with food, drinks, heaters, fans, misters tents chairs and anything that has to do with rehabbing.

We had I believe eight other city departments helping with that fire, and so we ran out of our snacks and other supplies that we normally carry on the rehab truck. So, I ran to H-E-B and started grabbing snacks, nuts, chips, water to quickly take back to the fireman.

And, as I was in H-E-B, I was approached by a gentleman that was a retired fireman from another state and he asked about the fire. Then, shortly after that, Chris, who is one of the store managers, came up to me and told me that when I checked out to see him that he has a few things for me to take back to the scene.

I was so surprised Chris supplied several things that evening/ morning for our firemen. I asked for his name because I wanted to be sure to send them the store and him a letter of appreciation for what he had done from the Taylor Fire Department Rehab. He took my name and number as well and said that in the future, he would like to help.

The very next morning, I received a call from Liz, who is the store’s public relations person, and she called and asked me to come down that she had some stuff for me. Again, I was so surprised and just overwhelmed with gratitude for what H-E-B had done for my rehab team.

When I arrived, David, another manager, helped Liz load my truck up with so many supplies that our rehab truck was completely empty of.

A huge thank you and great appreciation for what Liz, Chris and David has done for the Taylor Rehab. They were so kind and thoughtful. I greatly appreciate them.

This is my job to help and support our firemen as a member of the Taylor Fire Rehab team.

And, I cannot forget to send a shout out — Chicken Express and Golden Chick. Shortly after I arrived back at the scene, both of these businesses had sent out dinners for all of the firemen. Again, so grateful and appreciative of this wonderful small town of giving, caring, loving and thoughtful people of Taylor. I couldn’t be more proud to say that I am a resident and a family member of this small town community. — Linda Logue-Allen

Shout out to Marcus Reese

I live within earshot of the tennis courts and am witness to the incredible encouraging words that come from Marcus. The world needs more people like that. I am quite sure the most challenged tennis player, at the end of a lesson, feels like the king or queen of the court.
