HUTTO – Three teenagers were arrested on weapons charges in the Hutto High School parking lot Thursday, Nov. 3. The arrests were made during a varsity football game at Memorial Stadium. A spectator alerted a Hutto Independent School District police officer to the possible presence of a gun in the parking lot and individuals having a verbal altercation.

While searching for the reported offenders, Hutto ISD police officers discovered a group of people smoking marijuana in front of Hutto High School. The individuals fled the scene and a search was conducted by Hutto Police Department and Hutto ISD Police. Three individuals ages 17, 17 and 16, were found in a vehicle in the school parking lot. The youths are not Hutto ISD students.

Three guns were found in the vehicle, including one that Austin Police Department confirmed as being a stolen weapon. The 17-yearolds were taken to Williamson County jail and the 16-year-old was remanded to a juvenile detention center. All three were arrested on charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place.

Hutto Police Chief Jeff Yarbrough declined to provide any information about the individuals arrested or any additional charges being considered because the investigation is ongoing. However, a public arrest records website lists the two 17-yearolds as Stephfon Autry, a resident of Hutto, and Camron Davis, a resident of Pflugerville. Autry is also listed as violating his previous bond.

“There were pieces of info from many different sources that came together and if we had not responded as individual departments, as staff and citizens collaboratively, we don’t want to even think about what the potential outcomes could have been,” Yarbrough said.

Hutto was recently listed as one of the safest cities in Texas. According to the chief, the type of co-operation that helped avoid what could have been a deadly escalation on Thursday night is solid evidence that what Hutto is doing works.

“There’s a mutual commitment and respect between the PD and community in Hutto,” he said.

“We applaud everyone who sees something and brings it to our attention, even if it’s small. There’s no stone unturned when it comes the safety of our community, because our citizens deserve that.”
