A dangerous intersection at the loop on the city’s north side is getting some longneeded attention.

On Nov. 2, representatives of the City of Taylor joined County Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles, as well as the Texas Department of Transportation, to break ground on a $17.6 million road-widening project on CR 366 between Chandler Road and Carlos G. Parker Blvd NW in Taylor.

The project will be funded with voter-approved 2019 Road Bonds, as well as $200,000 from the City of Taylor.

“There is no doubt that this county road project is needed,” Boles said. “I have been county commissioner a little over three and a half years and this is the first project that I set about tackling, and it gives me great pleasure that we get to break ground on it today, so y’all come and grab some hard hats.”

This road-widening project, which will be completed by Spring 2024, will upgrade the existing two-lane roadway along 366 between Chandler and the loop to a three-lane roadway with a continuous center turn lane and shoulders.

In addition, the intersection of Carlos G. Parker Blvd NW, where many traffic accidents have been reported, will be realigned to eliminate the existing curve and be upgraded to five lanes including turn lanes, shoulders and a traffic signal, said county officials.

“This project is about keeping drivers and residents in this area safe,” Boles said. “The amount of traffic and truck traffic in this area has grown tremendously.

I’m so proud to be able to partner with the city of Taylor and TxDOT on this project.”
